It was only fitting that Canada's 2006 Horse Of The Year, Majestic Son, made his 2007 debut a winning one on Canada Day, taking a $20,000 Invitational Trot on a terrific 12-race card Sunday at the Hippodrome de Montreal.

With regular pilot Trevor Ritchie in town to drive, Majestic Son wasted no time getting to the front. The four-year-old Angus Hall ridgling parked past a :27.4 opening quarter and wouldn't let any of his eight rivals get within two-lengths of him from there.

The Mark Steacy trainee went on to set splits of :57.2 and 1:26.1 before coasting to the wire in a winning time of 1:54.1 – good enough for a two and half-lengths score over Its A Fact Jack (Filion) in second. Pablo Angus (Hebert) was third.

As a sophomore last season, Majestic Son won 14 of 19 races and banked over $1.35 million. His victories included the Goodtimes and Breeders Crown at Woodbine, the Canadian Breeders and Canadian Trotting Classic at Mohawk, and multiple Ontario Sires Stakes events en route to Horse of the Year honours.

Lifetime, Majestic Son is a 20-time winner and has banked $1,891,782 for the Majestic Son Stable.
