				Reportage Team Hudon Has Big Night In Windsor The traveling road show known as the Ontario Sires Stakes rolled into Windsor Raceway on Sunday evening, with two-year-old trotting fillies flaunting their stuff in a five-pack of $24,000 Grassroots divisions. Dabrina extended her lead in the Grassroots’ standings by virtue of her 2:01.1 tally in the fourth division for driver Karen Hudon and trainer Joe Hudon, Jr. The daughter of Kadabra-Oaklea Ina was on top through fractions of :29, 1:00 and 1:31 before scooting home in :30.2. She was three-quarters of a length better than runner-up Out Of The Kitchen (Mike Saftic), with Incredible Emmy Go (Steve Byron) another three lengths back in third. R A W Equine Inc, Joe Hudon, Jr. and Herb Boggs share ownership on the four-time winner, who upped her bankroll to $57,660 with the win. Magic Wheel squashed her square-gaited rivals winning by a 10-length margin in a career-best clocking of 2:00. It was back-to-back O.S.S. scores for the husband/wife duo of trainer Joe Hudon, Jr. and the love of his life, driver Karen Hudon. The filly took over shortly past the quarter pole and she kept on trucking en route to the decisive score over Jayport Kashier (Mike Saftic) and Shez So Striking (Robert Shepherd). Karen Hudon of Acton, ON and Margaret Payne of St. Augustine, FL share ownership on Kadabra-Ws Balanced Wheel miss. She now boasts a 2-2-1 record in seven tries along with a bankroll that sits at $38,860. J N Payton earned a lifetime mark of 2:00 when she rallied to the second win of her career for trainer Mark Steacy. The Angus Hall-Speedy B miss was treated to a ground-saving trip by driver Mike Saftic en route to the 1-1/2 length score over Ashlake (Steve Byron). The show dough was earned by Promising Lass (Roger Mayotte). Shawn Steacy, Landmark III Racing Stable, George Judson and Dr. Malcolm Man Son Hing share ownership on the rookie who improved her 2010 record to 2-1-1 from six trips postward. She has stashed away $33,912 to date. Honey Thorn celebrated a maiden-breaking triumph in the second division thanks to her 2:01.1 tally with Randy Waples at the helm. The Chris Beaver-trained daughter of Here Comes Herbie-Seven Point took over shortly past the half and drew away to win by 6-3/4 lengths over Anotherdayinthered (James MacDonald). Abes My Uncle (Dave Wall) was third. Beaver shares ownership on the rookie with her breeder, Wilbur Lang of Jamestown, OH. They’ve watched her bank $19,680 to date. Some Like It Hot started her career 0-for-4, but she now boasts a 3-for-7 record thanks in part to her 1:59.4 score on Sunday for trainer/driver Lyle MacArthur. The daughter of Ken Warkentin-Char Catie Becca laid down fractions of :30, 1:00.1 and 1:30 before using a :29.4 closing panel to seal the deal by 1-1/2 lengths. Rise N Shine (Steve Byron) was the filly across the line, with Stewardess (Jason Brewer) rounding out the top three finishers. Linda Wellwood, Tammy Aspden, Anne Shunock and Diane Ingham share ownership on the rapidly-improving youngster, who was a $32,000 purchase from last year’s Harrisburg Yearling Sale. She has now banked $38,000. Sunday’s O.S.S. event was the final of the regular season for the fillies. The top 16 point earners throughout the season will now focus on Western Fair Raceway – the host of this year’s O.S.S. Grassroots Semi Finals. That event is scheduled for October 15, with the O.S.S. Grassroots Finals slated for October 23.
