Miss Dangles Delivers In Autumn Stakes

Miss Dangles Despite being forced to overcome Post 10 and a parked out trip, Miss Dangles and trainer/driver Rick Zeron soared past trotting foes in deep stretch to win the $60,000 final of the Autumn Stakes for three-year-old fillies on Thursday evening at Woodbine Racetrack.

The daughter of Ken Warkentin-Kimberly Coe was out the route, but she used her patented closing kick to propel herself to the 1:56.4 decision. The clocking shaved one fifth of a second off the former stakes record set by Mojo N The Morning in the 2008 edition of the Autumn Stakes.

Miss Dangles, who was sent off at closing odds of 3-1, found herself sitting eighth on the outside as Closeness (Jody Jamieson) wheeled the field by the quarter pole in :27.4. That front-stepper zipped through middle splits of :57.2 and 1:26.3 before coming under intense pressure from rivals from the backfield.

Dead Wrong (Murray Samons) was first over and bearing down on Closeness, with Lisas Passion (Randy Waples) tracking cover from second over. Miss Dangles, in the meantime, was setting up her rally while sitting sixth on the rim. When Zeron said “Go”, Miss Dangles complied with :28.4 closing speed which was good enough to earn the victory by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:56.4. Closeness held on for the runner-up prize, with Dead Wrong hanging around to earn the shoe dough.
Daniel Pallay of Bridgeport, CT shares ownership on the youngster with Bowl Stables of Bryn Mawr, PA. The homebred now boasts a 7-3-1 record from 19 trips postward this season. The $30,000 payday bumped her overall earnings to $107,290.
