Reportage

Indiana Downs also played host to two divisions of freshman filly trotters in the Kentuckiana Stallion Management Stakes. The first of the two divisions, also known as the Yankee Glide, worth $105,000, produced another track record when Win Missy B (Conway Hall-Winning Miss Brenda) tripped the timer in 1:56.1. Chilitodayhotamale (Muscles Yankee--Miss Molly Tamale) picked up the win in the second division, also called the Muscle Mass, in 1:56.3.

Win Missy B also put her name in the Indiana Downs record book with her win in the Kentuckiana Stallion Management Stakes

Drawing post four in the seven-filly contest, Win Missy B and trainer Charlie Norris left the gate second behind Canadian Justice and Peter Wrenn. But the duo didnt sit long; they were out and moving to the lead on the way to a :57 opening half. Win Missy B would come under fire from the favorite, On The Bright Side, but the filly never cleared the front and broke stride racing to the three-quarters (1:26.3).

She was pretty comfortable and I wasnt pressing her, Norris commented. She did it all on her own.

A neck in front of Aunt Mel and Marcus Miller at the top of the stretch, Win Missy B crossed the wire one-half length in front. Canadian Justice finished third. The victory was the third in six starts for the Conway Hall filly bred and owned by Robert Key.

Shes really learning how to race now. She put her game face on, the trainer added. She was hot in the beginning, but now she will let you do anything you want.

The time lowered the track record for freshman filly trotters by two-fifths seconds. Solveig had set the previous mark of 1:56.3 by winning her Kentuckiana division in August 2004.

The outside post couldn't keep Chilitodayhotamale out of the winner's circle in her division
Starting from the outside post in the field of seven, Chilitodayhotamale trotted a :28.3 final panel to overtake Dream On Hanover, guided by Brett Miller, and the favored Personal Style (Jody Jamieson) to capture the second $105,000 division for driver Brian Sears. Racing fifth at the quarter (:27.4), the Muscles Yankee lass advanced to third turning for home as several fillies conceded positions after breaking stride.

There were quite a few green fillies in there and I hoped to get good position, Sears noted. I was able to get a nice trip following Jody and it worked out well after that. She got pretty brave there and I thought I could get by Bretts filly. Once she got by she kind of let up. I chased after her and she went on again.

Twice a runner-up in three previous starts, the pupil of Trond Smedshammer earned her first career win. Chilitodayhotamale was bred and is owned by Michael Andrew.
