Grand Circuit Continues In Lexington
After disappointing as the favourite
in the $376,000 Elegantimage Stake on September 14 at Woodbine Mohawk
Park, When Dovescry bounced back to produce a rock solid score in
Sunday’s first division of the Bluegrass Series for Team Allard.
The daughter of Muscle Hill-Cedar Dove marched right to the position of
command from Post 6 in the $108,500 contest for driver Simon Allard, and
once she crossed over in front of the field she sliced out intervals of
:27.1, :55.3 and 1:23.4. A :26.2 closing panel was kicked out by the
drifting filly who went on to halt the teletimer in 1:50.1. She defeated
pocket-sitting Golden Tricks, who finished second, and race favourite
Millies Possesion.
Rene Allard trains the nine-time winner for Go Fast Stable, Yves
Sarrazin, Kapildeo Singh and Lawrence Dumain. The filly has put together
a 4-2-2 record from eight attempts this season while banking well over
$400,000. To date, the trotting star has earned $718,134.
Beautiful Sin was a combined 0-for-7 on the season coming into this
afternoon’s assignment, but she broke through for a winning effort in
what was her debut for trainer/driver Ake Svanstedt.
Away third from the starting gate, Beautiful Sin watched Starita go
along on an unchallenged lead through first-half fractions of :27.4 and
:56. Pocket-sitting Asiago tipped off the rail around the final turn and
went toe-to-toe with Starita to the three-quarter pole in 1:24.1.
Svanstedt was quick to follow cover at that point, and when he flipped
the switch on his filly in the lane she exploded home and managed to
track down Asiago in the closing strides for the 1:50.4 score. Asiago
held on for second, with race favourite Evident Beauty rallying for
third.
Sent off at odds of 11-1, the daughter of Muscle Hill-Sina improved this
year’s record to 1-2-1 from eight attempts. The four-time winner, who is
owned by S R F Stable of Lighthouse Point, FL, pushed her lifetime
earnings well over $200,000 with the winning effort.
