Two sets of OSS Gold Series divisions for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings went postward Tuesday evening at Mohawk Racetrack, with Muscle Up The Goal and A Little More Love striking gold for the second time this season.
Muscle Up The Goal drew first blood with a front-stepping score in his $105,000 tilt. The son of Muscle Mass-Tags Goal got stole away with soft, first-half fractions of :29.3 and 1:00 before being pressured to the three-quarter pole in 1:28.2 by Alacrity. That foe leveled off in deep stretch, however, and that allowed Muscle Up The Goal to draw clear by 4-1/2 lengths in 1:57.2. Alacrity held on for the runner-up award, while Gronk rallied late to grab third.
Chris Beaver trains the youngster for Synerco Ventures Inc of Toronto, Ontario. It was the colt�s second win in three tries, and the lion�s share of the purse boosted his earnings to $87,500. He was a $30,000 purchase from last year�s Harrisburg Yearling Sale.
A Little More Love pulled off an 8-1 upset in the second division, but he didn�t win with the same authority that Muscle Up The Goal did in the opening tilt.
Randy Waples hustled the homebred to the lead from Post 10 and marched the field to the quarter pole in :29.2. Dont Rush powered to the top in the backstretch and took the field through middle panels of :59.2 and 1:28.1 while feeling pressure from Rise Up Rise Up. A Little More Love found room up the rail in the lane, and his :30.2 final quarter was just enough to earn him the nose decision over Dont Rush in 1:59.1. Win The Day came on late to finish third.
Bob McIntosh trains the son of Kadabra-Miss Lovecky for Robert McIntosh Stables Inc of Windsor and Dave Boyle of Bowmanville, Ontario. The win improved the rookie�s record to 2-2-0 from four trips postward. His share of the loot lifetime his lifetime earnings to $93,500.
